Thousands of mourners have come to pay their respects to music legend Aretha Franklin, who will be laid to rest Friday in Detroit, Michigan. A star-studded roster of performers and speakers are scheduled to attend. From Washington, VOA’s Jill Craig has more.
A former chauffeur for President Donald Trump on Thursday dropped his lawsuit alleging he was not paid for thousands of hours of work.
Noel Cintron’s attorney, Larry Hutcher, said the case has been submitted to arbitration for resolution.
The Trump Organization had requested just such a result in papers filed in Manhattan federal court earlier this month.
Cintron sued the Trump Organization in July, but not Trump. Still, he accused him of “callousness” and greed.
The Trump Organization said then that Cintron was always “paid generously and in accordance with the law.” A lawyer for the business did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
The lawsuit said Cintron was Trump’s driver for 20 years until the Secret Service took over in 2016.
His lawyer said after the lawsuit was filed that Cintron waited to sue because he wasn’t aware of all his legal rights and because he didn’t want to jeopardize his job.
The lawsuit alleged that Cintron routinely worked 50- to 55-hour weeks without overtime even though he was eligible for it. It said he made $75,000 annually since 2010, but lost his health insurance when his pay was raised from $68,000 that year.
In filing the lawsuit, he sought $170,000 in overtime alone, along with other costs and damages.
The Trump Organization filed papers earlier this month seeking to dismiss the lawsuit and force arbitration.
It said arbitration was required by an agreement signed by Cintron.
According to the court papers, Cintron had been employed by Trump Tower Commercial LLC, which owns and manages commercial areas of Trump Tower, since 1990. It said he had worked in various positions over the years, including manager and head of security.
The Trump Organization said in its filing that Cintron was required in June to sign papers requiring some disputes to be handled through arbitration. It said the papers were returned signed by Cintron in early July.
In another case Thursday, U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman ruled that Jessica Denson, who sued the Trump campaign on grounds of discrimination, harassment and defamation, must submit to arbitration.
Russia said Thursday that it was holding up release of a report by U.N. experts who said North Korea is violating U.N. sanctions by not stopping its nuclear and missile programs and by engineering “a massive increase in illicit ship-to-ship transfers of petroleum products.”
Russia’s U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told reporters after a closed Security Council meeting on the report that he was blocking its release “because we disagree on certain elements of the report.”
He said Russia also asked for an investigation into regular leaks of reports on North Korea to the media. The Associated Press and other news organizations reported the panel’s latest findings in early August.
Nebenzia didn’t disclose Russia’s concerns, but diplomats, speaking on condition of anonymity because consultations were private, said a key objection was the panel’s mention of Russian ships being involved in illegal ship-to-ship transfers.
Britain’s U.N. Ambassador Karen Pierce, the current Security Council president, said there would be informal consultations Friday to determine what Russia’s objections are in hopes of finalizing and releasing the report.
“I need to stress that this panel of experts report is independent,” she said. “It’s an interesting question as to whether you should be objecting to an independent report. But, as I say, the council hopes we can resolve this.”
Pierce said the Security Council had been “very strong” on enforcing sanctions against North Korea, “and getting this report out and implemented is the next stage in enforcing the sanctions.”
The experts’ report said sanctions against North Korea were also being violated by transfers of coal at sea and by the flouting of an arms embargo and financial restrictions.
North Korea also attempted to sell small arms, light weapons and other military equipment via foreign intermediaries, including Syrian arms traffickers in the case of Houthi Shiite rebels in Yemen as well as Libya and Sudan, the report said. And North Korea has continued military cooperation with Syria, in breach of U.N. sanctions.

The third installment of the film Yamla Pagla Deewana, this movie is the story of two brothers Pooran (Sunny Deol) and Kaala (Bobby Deol) who use the ‘Vajrakavach’ with various intentions and one of them is becoming rich. Parmar (Dharmendra), an erstwhile Casanova who is also a sharp and intelligent lawyer of repute, is the paying guest in the brothers’ house. He is a thorn in Kaala’s side. Enter Chikoo (Kriti Kharbanda), an ENT doctor in Surat who is so partial to alcohol that one wonders if she is really capable of surgery. Chikoo arrives in Amritsar to learn about the ancient practice of Ayurveda. Kaala falls in love with her instantly. They bond as they share a bottle of alcohol which is so obvious in YPD. She returns home and Kaala is heartbroken. After which a court drama happened for which Singhs came together and rent a flat next to Chikoo.

Obviously, the story came with a moral or message that traditional medicines made in India are far superior to Allopathy.
In short, if you wish to watch YPD again then this is almost the same with a new storyline. Bobby is being dominant in the whole movie as he has the most of the time on screen as compare to Dharmendra and Sunny. Violent Sunny aka Puran will give you the old vibes of funny Sunny Deol.
If you remove the extra long scenes from YPD3, you would be left with a 90-minute film which will be as heavy as piles of coats over you to spend in the theatre.

This movie shares the release date with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree which according to the critics is doing well at the box office but the Friday will remain the unpredictable and you never know which movie will hit the BO collections.
YouTube says all non-profits have to do is set up the campaign, and it’ll take care of the logistics and payment processing. For the beta period, it will even cover 100 percent of all donations’ transaction fees — unfortunately, it didn’t say how much those fees will cost in the future.
The platform has also introduced a way for several groups to raise funds together, rolling out the beta version of a tool called Community Fundraisers to a limited number of creators and qualified non-profits. It works like the basic Fundraisers tool, except it can show the same campaign on all participants’ accounts. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is already using the feature in partnership with 12 gaming creators to raise funds for cancer research.
In the coming weeks, YouTube is also rolling out Campaign Matching, which displays matching pledges from creators and brands within the fundraising panel. Also the platform is introducing Super Chat for Good, a variant of Super Chats that gives all paying commenters’ donations to the creator’s organization of choice.
While it’s true that e-begging is rampant on YouTube and other online destinations, these tools will be limited to qualifying US-registered 501(c)(3) non-profits. It’s unclear if they’ll ever open up to organizations in other countries, but the point is that this suite of features can ensure that your money will go to the non-profits themselves and not to some unethical creator’s pockets.
